The Christian life is a missionary life. The Bible instructs us to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of he Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). We are also taught to be witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8). Since we are called to share the gospel, we as a church encourage one another to do that locally and globally.
This page shares information some mission agencies we as a church cooperate with and support, as well as provides details on of some of our members' missions trips and calls awareness to the lostness in the world.
HeartCry Missionary Society, founded by Paul Washer, is an organization that exists "to glorify God through the establishment of biblical churches by equipping and mobilizing indigenous churches and missionaries in the least evangelized areas of the world." The International Mission Board (IMB) is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention. It exists with the mission of fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 by "evangelizing, discipling and planting reproducing churches among all peoples." Under current president David Platt, the IMB works to send men and women to every people, tribe, and nation that they may know and worship our Lord Jesus Christ.
To Every Tribe
To Every Tribe is a mission agency that exists to extend the worship of Christ among all peoples by mobilizing the church, training disciplemakers, and sending missionary teams to plant churches among the unreached.
In the fall of 2013, we had three members travel to the Middle East to see the work of the gospel, and look for opportunites for long term service. The countries visited were Dubai, Lebanon, and Egypt. It was an incredible time as they had opportunities to share their testimonies, preach to gospel, pass out bibles, and encourage local believers.
In the summer of 2014, two of our members, Marwan and Marci, made plans to move to this region permanently as missionaries. They sold all their posessions, packed up, and arrived in Dubai, UAE. There, Marwan has participated in training to minster in that geographical context with Redeemer Church of Dubai. The couple plan to move to Lebanon in the Fall of 2016 and serve as missionaries in that country.
Please pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers, as the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray for brother Walid in Lebanon, and for Brother Samuel in Egypt. Also, pray for the work through Redeemer Church of Dubai.
A group from CrossLife Church took a trip to Maine to work with a team of church planters and local pastors. We held a block party in a local park and invited children and their families. We also walked around the streets of Westbrook and Portland sharing the gospel with people and praying for them.
Pray for Barry Murry as he plants and leads others to plant churches in ME. Pray for Joey Marshall as he pastors Living Stone Community Church of Standish, ME. Finally "pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Mat 9:38, ESV).
In 2012, we had two members from our church leave to serve in Kathmandu, Nepal. Laura Brown served for 6 months. Bekah McCarley served for 1 year. Pray for the Tibetan Buddhists of Nepal and the spreading of the gospel to tribal people in the area who are unreached and unengaged.
In 2015 and 2017, a group of !! from CL took part in a mission to Kosovo, part of the Balkan States in Europe. This partnership continues to this day with a desire to see healthy churches planted in this predominantly Muslim country.
